Last month we drove into Maryland, quite a long way from home.  Our first stop was at the Youghiogheny Overlook, where we found these beautiful Black-Eyed Susans, the state flower of Maryland.  We couldn’t resist taking quite a few pictures of them.  The scientific name for them is Rudbeckia hirta.  Aren’t they beautiful?

Fox has finished his meal.  At least we know he hasn’t gone hungry.

We would leave some food for them every night.

This is one of a pair of foxes that came to our yard every day when we lived in the North GA Mountains.  They liked to play around the woodpiles and look for lizards.  This was taken from inside our house.

This sunrise was viewed from our hotel room balcony.  It was kind of cool that morning, but the sunrise was great.

We took this picture of a cycad tree in front of Blackbeard’s Restaurant, where we ate supper that day.  Take a good look at the trunk.  The whole tree reminds me of a pineapple.

My husband took this spectacular picture of a bottle brush tree flower.  The bottle brush is an evergreen tree.  The scientific name is Callistemon.

This particular one was at the Visitor’s Center on Jekyll Island.

Aren’t these twisted Live Oaks incredible?  They make me think Whomping Live Oaks!  As in the Whomping Willow of Harry Potter fame.

We took a long needed vacation to Jekyll Island, GA the last week in March.  You could tell it was spring because things were greening up and there were new plants and blooms everywhere.  While there we took oodles of photographs, some of which I will be sharing with you.  The first thing I noticed was the blinding bright color of these azaleas.

These colors remind me of spring!  I used mostly gold and green with a little creamy pearl thown in.  The green beads, both round and saucer, are cat’s eye.
